Design / Construction
en-ca Taupe day dress with high, collarless neckline. The sleeves end just below the elbow and have black Valenciennes lace appliques with pink flowers embroidered in the lace. Rows of pink white and blue ribbon edge the sleeves and are decorated with beading. The sleeves are draped in an intricate fashion with the edges decorated with the ribbon trim. The bodice of the dress has a V-shape created with the same ribbon that edges the sleeves as well as the same beading. Beige embroidered lace with a floral pattern makes up the upper bodice and has black embroidered lace appliqued in the centre front. The waistline is just below an empire waist but higher than the natural waist. An oval shaped buckle covered in the same taupe fabric the dress is made of is placed in the centre of the waistline. The bodice is also decorated with beige cording embroidered in more floral shapes and the edge of the draped fabric that creates the bodice is decorate with a ball fringe. The skirt of the dress has an asymmetrical design. An insertion in an inverted V-shape is created with the same black lace on the left side of the skirt. Large fabric and beaded covered buttons decorate both sides of the V-shape.
