Initially the work was largely a response to that which I observed and remembered from my living environment, often transforming these pieces through a process of abstraction. This was followed by a period of years where I consciously chose to move away from the landscape reference to the creation of objects that had a more iconic presence. After some years of working in this direction I then realized that the physical world about me was a source of inspiration that I could no longer deny. For many years I then created multifaceted juxtapositions of landscape elements to construct imaginary personal environments. This has been followed in more recent years by a return to mark making in a non-objective context.” https://www.saltwire.com/news/provincial/about-art-qa-with-printmaker-edward-porter-152958/ Salt Wire Extent 75 x 56 cm Medium Print Provenance Purchased from Mira Godard Gallery.
